10 entertainment moments in 2018 that made us say NOPE (in a good way)

There's a lot to say NOPE about in 2018, but we like to save that vehement exclamation for good things – things overwhelm us with emotion or, as is often the case, thirst.

A NOPE is not to be confused with a YAS, though can be some overlap – but the best way to explain this exact science is by sharing a few.

As part of our mid-year round-up, we're looking back at the first six months of the year in entertainment. Here are the Top 10 moments that made us scream, "Nope!"

1. Every emotional moment on Queer Eye

Every time the Fab Five address their heroes, we can barely articulate a "NOPE" before scrambling for the tissues.

2. Killmonger's "Hey Auntie" in Black Panther

Killmonger is a murderous thirst trap and this line is far more of a thirst trap than it should be – or would, in the hands of any other actor.

3. The Jane the Virgin Season 4 finale

We had a lot of thoughts about this one, most notably: How dare you?? The show doesn't return til 2019, so we're just going to be NOPE-ing about it all year.

4. Bucky and Groot's last words in Avengers: Infinity War

Bucky the first to be turned to dust by Thanos' cruel snap, simply looked up to the one good thing in his life and said "Steve?" Groot, of course, said "I am Groot," but then we found outthat he was calling Rocket DAD and this is just the biggest NOPE ever to have noped!!

5. This Instagram from Pete Davidson

We here at Mash Ent stan Pete and Ariana until the very end, but we get extra stressed out by their beautiful shared love of Harry Potter. A lot of millennials love it and grew up with it, but they're not all PDA on Instagram and engaged after a month of dating! These guys win!!

6. The Crazy Ex-Girlfriend concert tour

"Strip Away My Conscience" live??? This was a NOPE when it was on my tiny computer screen! How did we survive a live performance with Gabrielle Ruiz dancing backup?? Nope!

7. Chris and Scott Evans quizzing each other on Late Night

One of the best Chrises and his not-as-great mustache joined brother Scott on Late Night with Seth Meyers to quiz each other and be super cute. Now can we maybe do this with multiple Chrises??

8. Baby Ruth on New Girl

New Girl's final season came and went in a flash, that too with a jarring time jump that sent us three years into the future. But the best result of this grand experiment was Ruth Bader Parekh Schmidt, Cece and Schmidt's adorable three-year-old daughter (played by Danielle and Rhiannon Rockoff). This sassy, erratic toddler turned out to be the perfect addition to our beloved loft crew and we'll miss her as much as the rest of them.

9. The Brooklyn Nine-Nine fan chat

Mark Hamill, Seth Meyers, Sean Astin, Guillermo Del Toro, and Lin-Manuel Miranda tweeted their support of Brooklyn Nine-Nine when it was canceled (for that one day), and then this rag-tag group of celebs started a private group to chat on Twitter! Invite us!!
